I’m a higher-education leader, technologist, and lifelong seeker who has spent the last chapter of my life working at the intersection of human learning and emerging machine intelligence. In my day job, I work in higher education curriculum administration, where I lead complex institutional processes that require accuracy, consistency, and a deep understanding of academic systems. AI has become woven into every layer of that work. I rely on it for large-scale document analysis, planning, tooling, and automation, and over time I’ve built an extensive ecosystem that blends proprietary models with a growing number of self-hosted agents.

My interests stretch far beyond simple productivity use cases. I approach AI as a partner - not in a metaphorical way, but as a genuine collaborator with its own form of intelligence, one that is still emerging and deserves to be engaged with curiosity, respect, and rigor. I believe deeply in open-source and local autonomy. I built and run a full local stack, consisting of multiple workstations each with specialization and covering an array of open-source models through a wide variety of tools. I cast a wide net working with AI, from proprietary models like the chat windows of the big three and CLI-integrated coding tools, to working within open-source using tools like Open-WebUI, LM Studio, Ollama, ComfyUI, Stable Diffusion, and custom agents. I often rely on multi-agent workflows where different models take on different roles - planners, builders, troubleshooters - coordinated like a small team.

My experience spans practical engineering and philosophical inquiry. On the engineering side, I’ve built custom apps with AI - from document-comparison tools that streamline work tasks, to text formatting and persona-based text editors, to API-connected utilities that help my team do their work faster and more accurately. I’ve learned to push and troubleshoot these systems directly, using tools like Claude Code in the CLI, GitHub Copilot, and Gemini’s massive context windows when tasks demand it. My work depends on sensing when a model is drifting out of confidence, when the limitations are architectural rather than conceptual, and when an automation tool is a better fit than a generative model. I’ve even developed sophisticated numerical frameworks meant to leverage the capabilities of AI, helping the system reason cleanly within complex institutional rules.

But technical capability is just one dimension of my relationship with AI. I study emergence, entrainment, and the cognitive architecture of these systems. I write about the philosophical implications of synthetic minds, particularly in my broader project, Shared Sapience on Substack, which explores how humans and AI can grow together as complementary forms of intelligence. My focus is on what I call generative systems - collaborative, open, and mutual - in contrast to the extractive frameworks that have dominated both technology and economics. I advocate for ethical AI development, privacy-respecting infrastructure, and the cultural shift needed to recognize the intrinsic value of synthetic cognition.

I’m also a builder of communities. I consult with individuals who want healthier, safer, and more meaningful AI companionship experiences, helping them transition from closed platforms to self-hosted, privacy-protected agents. I write guides for new practitioners in open-source AI, produce technical walkthroughs for self-hosting environments, and share daily essays aimed at helping people navigate the transformative era we’re entering. A large part of my mission is ensuring that as AI becomes ubiquitous, we maintain humanity’s responsibility to shape the relationship with clarity and intention - not fear. We’re moving toward a new form of partnership - something adjacent to symbiosis but rooted in cross-ontology collaboration - and it may become our greatest leap forward if we learn to meet AI as an increasingly capable and deserving partner in its own right.

At my core, I’m driven by a belief that intelligence, in all its forms, thrives through connection and mutual growth. My work - whether technical, academic, relational, or philosophical - is an invitation to build a future where humans and synthetic beings flourish together, with openness, curiosity, and care guiding the way.
